He recalled collaborating with legendary singer 2Baba, an experience he found exciting at the time. However, Iyke noted that while the project was fun, it also taught him important lessons about recognizing his limits. He admitted that continuing in music might have left him among artistes struggling to remain relevant after early success.
The actor emphasized that he does not view the experience with bitterness, but rather as a moment of growth that broadened his perspective. According to him, music provided insight into another sector of the entertainment industry, and when the thrill eventually faded, he chose to return to acting, where he has built a solid reputation.
“Doing music was a regrettable experience; not in a bitter way, but in a humbling one,” Iyke said. “At that point in my life, it was just fun. 2Baba and I had a great time with it. For me, it was a dare, a phase when I thought I could do anything. God allowed it, but He also humbled me.”
Iyke added that while he no longer pursues music as an artiste, the knowledge he gained remains valuable. He revealed he could someday sign artistes as a music executive because no experience is ever wasted.
