GML Creatives Sparks Global Sustainability Movement Through Music And Art
Music and environmental advocacy converged on Saturday as GML Creatives staged a compelling sustainability-themed concert titled For the Beauty of the Earth at Oduduwa Hall, Golden Tulip Hotel, Ibadan. The sold-out event combined live music, visual arts, and cultural storytelling to deliver a powerful message on climate action.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Beyond entertainment, the program served as a creative call to urgency. Experts from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and the World Bank estimate that Nigeria loses approximately $100 billion annually due to climate-related challenges, including flooding, desertification, heatwaves, and food insecurity. In 2022 alone, floods displaced over 1.4 million Nigerians, while Lake Chad has shrunk by more than 90%, severely affecting agriculture and livelihoods in the northeast.
In response to these pressing issues, GML Creatives curated an immersive experience featuring live performances, recycled-art exhibitions, and a keynote sustainability lecture. The event highlighted the beauty of nature, the consequences of human negligence, and the hope of restoration through collective action.
“We wanted to remind people about our role in preserving the Earth’s beauty and the power of our actions in promoting sustainability—through both entertainment and education,” said Rosemary Adeoti, Administrative Director of GML Creatives.
Musical performances celebrated the wonders of the Earth while drawing attention to climate change, pollution, and renewal. A standout moment of the evening was a full-house rendition of Michael Jackson’s Heal the World, which left the audience emotionally moved and united in purpose.
The event also featured a striking exhibition by the Waste Museum, presenting art created entirely from repurposed materials. Renowned environmentalist and founder of the Waste Museum, Dr. Adejumoke Olowookere, delivered the keynote address, discussing the role of plants in carbon capture and the importance of the three Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. She also shared her inspiring journey in establishing the Waste Museum and commended GML Creatives for the initiative.
