“Malema Proposes Bold Vision: One President, One Currency For Africa”
Julius Malema, President of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has called for a unified Africa, advocating for a single president, a common currency, a unified parliament, and a coordinated military command. Reports indicate that Malema made the appeal during his keynote address at the Nigerian Bar Association’s Annual General Conference in Enugu on Sunday, an event attended by thousands of lawyers and dignitaries.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In his address, the 44-year-old politician urged African leaders to dismantle colonial-era borders and work toward a borderless continent. Malema emphasized that a unified currency would strengthen Africa’s economic position globally, asserting that the continent must refuse subjugation and stand together in a rapidly changing world.
Rejecting the stereotype of Africa as a “dark continent,” he highlighted the continent’s abundant resources, which he said could drive industrial growth and prosperity if managed by Africans themselves. Malema called for visa-free movement across Africa, insisting that people should be able to travel freely between countries without restrictions.
He identified Nigeria and South Africa as key drivers of Africa’s industrialization and urged both nations to provide leadership for continental transformation. Malema praised Nigeria’s solidarity with South Africa during the apartheid struggle and stressed the potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area to benefit ordinary citizens.
Additionally, he warned against reckless borrowing from international lenders, urging African leaders to carefully regulate loans from institutions such as the World Bank to safeguard the continent’s future.
