According to Nivo News, Jennifer Elohor, a 28-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member from Delta State serving in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has accused operatives of Agunechemba, a state-owned vigilante group, of subjecting her to brutal assault, humiliation, and unlawful detention. Elohor, a Zoology graduate of Delta State University, Abraka, recounted how she was stripped naked, beaten with sticks and guns, and threatened with death after the group stormed the corps members’ lodge on July 23, 2025, over allegations of Internet fraud.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking for the first time since a viral video showed her ordeal, Elohor said masked gunmen forced their way into the building without identification, ransacked apartments, seized personal devices, and accused the corps members of cybercrime. When she questioned their actions and demanded they contact NYSC authorities, she said they became violent, dragging her and eight others out of the building, stripping her naked, and forcing them into vehicles.

“They threatened to shoot us and dump our bodies in the bush,” Elohor alleged. “I was beaten repeatedly, called a prostitute, and humiliated. They refused to let me wear anything before taking me away.”

She said the vigilantes drove them through bush paths to an open field where other young people were detained, before moving them to a secretariat. According to Elohor, the men ignored their NYSC identification cards and demanded that relatives come for bail, firing gunshots into the air to intimidate them.

Elohor claimed they were released only after their school proprietor intervened, but not before being extorted. She also alleged that some officials downplayed the incident, with a Local Government Inspector making dismissive comments and urging her to “forget about it.” When she later visited an office where the attackers were reportedly detained, she described the arrest as “staged,” saying she saw the same men walking free in the area the following day.

The corps member, whose injuries and humiliation were captured on video, vowed to pursue legal action to ensure the perpetrators are punished. “I want to see them face justice,” she said, expressing fear for her safety as she prepares to complete her service in October.
