Chelsea Prodigy Estevão Shines In West Ham Thrashing As Maresca Preaches Patience
According to Nivo News, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca praised his young players after their commanding 5–1 victory over West Ham United on Friday night but acknowledged that several of them still need time to adjust to the demands of Premier League football.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Blues recovered from an early setback at the London Stadium, where Lucas Paquetá put the Hammers ahead in the ninth minute with a spectacular long-range strike — a goal Maresca later admitted stemmed from an error by Brazilian teenager Willian Estevão.
“We conceded because of him,” Maresca told reporters. “He lost the ball in the build-up, but he has to make mistakes to learn. Overall, his performance was excellent. That’s why he’s here with us — he’s a special player.”
Estevão, just 18 years old, quickly made amends in historic fashion. Drafted into the starting lineup after Cole Palmer was sidelined during the warm-up, the winger became the youngest player in Chelsea’s history to register an assist. He set up Enzo Fernández for Chelsea’s third goal before half-time, following earlier strikes from João Pedro and Pedro Neto.
Chelsea dominated the second half as Moisés Caicedo and Trevoh Chalobah added goals from corners to complete the rout. While pleased with the performance, Maresca emphasized that several of his new arrivals, including Estevão, require patience as they adapt to English football.
“João Pedro, Liam, Estevão, and Jamie Gittens are all fantastic players,” Maresca said. “Liam and probably João are slightly ahead because they were already playing in England. Jamie needs time to adapt, Estevão needs time to adapt, and Hato as well — it’s a process.”
