Eberechi Eze Nears £67.5 Million Move To Arsenal, History In The Making
Eberechi Eze is set to make history at Arsenal as he prepares for a £67.5 million move from Crystal Palace this weekend. The 27-year-old England international is scheduled to undergo medical tests today, with the deal structured as £60 million guaranteed plus £7.5 million in performance-based add-ons. Once completed, Eze will become Arsenal’s third-most expensive signing of all time.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Only Declan Rice, who joined from West Ham for a record £105 million in 2023, and Nicolas Pépé, acquired from Lille for £72 million in 2019, have commanded higher fees in the club’s history. Eze edges ahead of Kai Havertz (£65 million from Chelsea) and Viktor Gyökeres (£63.5 million from Sporting CP) to secure a spot in Arsenal’s top-five most costly signings.
The transfer also marks a dramatic turn in Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of the midfielder. Spurs had been confident of finalizing a deal earlier this week, but Arsenal matched their offer, persuading Eze to commit to the Emirates. The midfielder was left out of Crystal Palace’s Europa Conference League squad against Fredrikstad on Thursday, highlighting the imminence of his departure.
Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson hailed the move as potentially decisive in the Premier League title race. “Eze is a brilliant signing. He is a game-changer and a perfect fit. He has the X-factor, and in tight games, he can break down a low block. I think Arsenal will win the league with Eze,” Merson told Sky Sports.
If finalized, Eze will not only be a marquee signing but also a statement of intent from Mikel Arteta’s side as they seek to end their 20-year wait for a league title.
