Young prospects such as goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt, defenders Bright Osayi-Samuel and Bruno Onyemaechi, and midfielders Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru have also earned call-ups. In attack, Sadiq Umar and Nathan Tella are included among the forwards vying for spots.
Additional selections feature defender Benjamin Fredericks, versatile full-back Felix Agu, centre-back Igoh Ogbu, and midfielder Christantus Uche. Forward Cyriel Dessers, who impressed during Nigeria’s 2025 Unity Cup triumph in London, has been rewarded with another invitation.
Nigeria currently sits fourth in Group C and will host Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday, September 6. The team will then travel to Bloemfontein to face longtime rivals South Africa on Tuesday, September 9, in two pivotal fixtures for the Super Eagles’ qualifying campaign. Preparations will begin when the squad opens camp in Uyo on Monday, September 1.

Following the conclusion of the preliminary group stage, the top two teams in the standings will advance to the final qualification phase.
In this final phase, they will join four nations that have already qualified directly: two teams from CONCACAF, one from UEFA, and Venezuela representing CONMEBOL.
The final phase is scheduled for the international window from February 23 to March 6, 2027. The teams will compete across three single-match knockout paths, with the three winners securing the final remaining qualification spots for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
