The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated on Sunday that the coordinated operations were carried out by specialized tactical units acting on credible intelligence.
In Kaduna State, police operatives rescued Hussaini Ibrahim, who had been abducted from Jagindi Tasha Village in Jema’a Local Government Area. Under intense security pressure, the kidnappers abandoned their victim in a nearby forest. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of four suspects — Umar Yusuf Jabiri of Jagindi Tasha, Buhari Muhammad (also known as “General”) of Bayya Village, Ahmadu Nasiru of Gidan Waya, and Zakari Saleh. Officers recovered one AK-47 rifle and two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles from the suspects.
In a separate operation, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit intercepted a suspicious consignment from Jos, Plateau State, en route to Gusau, Zamfara State. A thorough search uncovered an AK-47 rifle concealed inside a sack. Investigators apprehended two individuals, Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa, who had traveled to Gusau to receive the weapon.
Meanwhile, in Delta State, the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), working in collaboration with the X-Squad and Buffalo Patrol units, raided a hideout along Ibusa Road. Officers arrested Chiadiji Collins, alias “Smooth,” 42, alleged to be responsible for multiple abductions in Ibusa, Ogwashi-Uku, and Asaba. A search of his residence in Ewulu community, Aniocha South Local Government Area, yielded one AK-47 rifle and 40 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. Another suspect, Ezechie Andrew, was also taken into custody with two pump-action guns and two cartridges.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, commended the officers for their tactical precision and bravery. He noted that these operations reflect effective intelligence-led policing and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to proactive crime-fighting through intelligence gathering, inter-agency cooperation, and public collaboration.
Egbetokun urged citizens to remain vigilant, share timely information with law enforcement, and support ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks across the country.
