“Federal Government Eases Aviation Tensions, KWAM 1’s Pilot Licenses Partially Restored”
According to Nivo News, the Federal Government has imposed a seven-year moratorium on establishing new federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Education Minister Tunji Alausa announced this decision after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu. In a separate development, the government has taken decisive steps to address recent controversies in the aviation sector. Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo ordered the withdrawal of criminal complaints against popular musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, known as KWAM 1, and against an Ibom Air passenger, Comfort Emmanson. He also directed the reinstatement of ValueJet pilots’ licenses following mandatory professional reviews.
Meanwhile, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set up a special committee to assess over 500 underage candidates who met strict academic criteria for the 2025/2026 admission cycle. JAMB Registrar Professor Ishaq Oloyede confirmed that the screening will take place in Lagos, Owerri, and Abuja from September 22 to 26.
President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at an MSME clinic in Calabar, emphasized that Nigerians “have no reason to be poor,” pledging continued support for small and medium enterprises.
