Sudan’s 4–0 Thrashing Of Nigeria: Appiah Sends Crucial Message To Coach Chelle

Published

on

According to Nivo News, Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah has advised Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles manager, Eric Chelle, to refine his team’s attacking approach following their 4–0 defeat in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Tuesday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Addressing journalists after the Group D clash, Appiah remarked that Nigeria showed moments of quality but failed to translate possession into clear scoring chances. “The coach only needs to polish the attack,” Appiah said. “Their first game against Senegal wasn’t too bad. In the second game, they had spells of possession, but our tactical approach made the difference.”

The result lifted Sudan to the top of Group D with four points from two matches, while Nigeria exited the tournament without a single point, having previously lost 1–0 to Senegal.

Chelle, who led Nigeria’s Super Eagles B side for the tournament, admitted that defensive errors proved costly. “We made a lot of mistakes and gave away the game in the second half,” Chelle told reporters. “Four goals, four mistakes. It’s been the same problem in both matches.”

In Tuesday’s fixture, Sudan went ahead through an own goal by Nigerian defender Leonard Ngenge. Walieldin Khedr added a second before Abdel Raouf struck twice to complete a commanding victory for Appiah’s men.

Sudan will face Senegal in their final group game, which is expected to determine the group leader. Nigeria’s early elimination adds to their recent struggles in CHAN, a tournament where they last reached the final in 2018.
