on

According to Nivo News, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has reported a significant drop in fuel consumption for June 2025, with total fuel evacuation declining to approximately 1.44 billion litres. This represents a 16.42 percent fall compared to the 1.77 billion litres recorded in May.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

George Ene-Ita, Director of Public Affairs at the NMDPRA, confirmed the figures on Wednesday, noting that daily fuel consumption averaged about 48 million litres in June. He also clarified earlier reports that had understated the daily average at 38.94 million litres. According to the NMDPRA, the precise volume of fuel evacuated during the month was 1,440,768,129 litres, reflecting a reduction of more than 290 million litres compared to May. When broken down, the daily evacuation averaged 48,025,604 litres, calculated over the 30 days in June.

Data from the report revealed mixed trends across different fuel types. The supply of diesel, or Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), grew by 1.73 percent to 432.18 million litres in June, up from 424.83 million litres in May. However, diesel distribution declined sharply by 23.23 percent, falling from 552.35 million litres to 424.06 million litres within the same period. Household kerosene (HHK) supply and distribution both dropped by about 13 percent, sliding to 7.79 million litres from nearly 9 million litres in May. Automotive gasoline (PMS) experienced the steepest fall, with supply plunging by nearly 48 percent from 72.36 million litres to 37.66 million litres, while distribution decreased by 16.54 percent.

The NMDPRA’s analysis of regional distribution showed Lagos receiving the largest allocation at 205.66 million litres, followed by Ogun with 88.69 million litres, the Federal Capital Territory with 77.51 million litres, and Oyo with 72.81 million litres. Officials indicated that these figures reflect persistent structural challenges within Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum sectors, which continue to influence fuel consumption patterns nationwide.

Despite the decline, the NMDPRA reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to strengthen fuel distribution networks and ensure uninterrupted product supply. The authority stressed its determination to improve efficiency within the petroleum sector and promote a more reliable and sustainable fuel supply chain in the future.

Factional Crisis Rocks ADC In Akwa Ibom As Party Splits Deepen.

Published

on

Barely a year after its inauguration in Akwa Ibom State, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been plunged into a deep factional crisis.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Multiple factions are now locked in a struggle for control of the party, leaving members uncertain about the legitimate leadership structure.

One faction is led by John Akpanudodehe, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while another is headed by the embattled state chairman, Dick Duke.

Although the leader of a third faction could not be immediately confirmed, findings indicate that another group also exists within the party.

Sources further suggest that the Akpanudodehe-led faction is seeking to remove the current chairman through a recently held congress that has sparked controversy.

In response, Dick Duke convened a stakeholders’ meeting over the weekend, where he rejected the legitimacy of the said congress.

He said the party had formally written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to distance itself from the exercise, citing a subsisting court order.

According to him, his tenure as state chairman is still valid until May, and any congress conducted before then would be unlawful.

Duke added that the party would only proceed with proper congresses after the expiration of his tenure and the resolution of legal issues, in line with due process.
