Trump Administration Slams “Horrific” Mass Killings Of Christians In Nigeria
According to Nivo News, the United States government under former President Donald Trump has issued a strong condemnation of the brutal attacks targeting Christians in Nigeria and across sub-Saharan Africa. The administration described the violence as “horrific” and pledged to work closely with international partners to address the escalating crisis. Both the White House and the State Department vowed a decisive response, stressing that safeguarding religious freedom remains both a moral obligation and a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The statement follows a wave of deadly incidents in recent weeks, including the killing of 27 Christians in the Nigerian village of Bindi Ta-hoss, allegedly by Islamist Fulani militants. Witnesses described harrowing scenes, with many victims—among them women and children—burned alive inside a church where they had sought refuge. One survivor, Solomon Sunday, recounted losing his wife and young daughter in the attack.
In a separate massacre on July 27, 49 Christians were hacked to death with machetes while at prayer in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Authorities blamed the assault on the ISIS-affiliated Allied Democratic Forces. Across the region, extremist groups such as Boko Haram and ISIS West Africa are accused of orchestrating targeted attacks that result in killings, forced displacement, and the seizure of land from Christian communities.
Human rights organisations have warned that these atrocities form part of a wider campaign of “ethno-religious cleansing.” John Eibner, president of Christian Solidarity International, noted that more than 165 Christians have been killed in Plateau State, Nigeria, over the past four months alone. He described the violence as part of a long-term process of “violent Islamisation,” pointing to similar massacres in Bassa and elsewhere in central Nigeria.
The crisis is not confined to Nigeria, with similar large-scale attacks reported in predominantly Christian areas of Congo and Mozambique. Local leaders have described the situation as dire, with youth activist D’Young Mangut lamenting that “people are being killed like chickens, and nothing is being done.”
According to the advocacy group Open Doors, more Christians are killed for their faith in Nigeria than in the rest of the world combined. Over the past decade, jihadist violence in sub-Saharan Africa has claimed an estimated 150,000 lives and displaced more than 16 million Christians. In Plateau State alone, more than 64 communities are reported to have been overrun by armed militants.
Religious leaders, including Bishop Wilfred Anagbe—who recently lost 20 parishioners in an attack—warn that the violence is systematic and unchecked, accusing the perpetrators of seeking to establish an Islamic state in parts of Nigeria. Bereaved families say they are “tired of condolences” and are demanding urgent, concrete measures to ensure the safety of their communities.
