PUNCH Online reports that the event was hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigerian Council. Ojulari joined virtually, as seen in a video obtained by our correspondent, marking his continued involvement in official duties despite ongoing speculation about his exit.
The appearance follows unconfirmed reports suggesting that Ojulari had stepped down from his role at the national oil company. However, no official statement has been issued by either the Presidency or the NNPCL regarding the matter.
Ojulari’s last public engagement was a town hall meeting with company staff at the NNPCL Towers in Abuja. He was appointed on April 2, 2025, by President Bola Tinubu, succeeding Mele Kyari in a sweeping reorganisation of the company’s executive leadership.
To commemorate his first 100 days in office, NNPCL recently highlighted significant accomplishments under Ojulari’s leadership. In a performance assessment shared across the company’s social media channels, the management hailed notable progress in areas such as upstream collaboration, energy infrastructure development, clean energy transition, and corporate governance reforms.
“The report card is out,” the post read. “And the first 100 days of the Group CEO is a testament to steadfast commitment and forward movement.”
The company further noted achievements in profitability, refinery rehabilitation, transparency, employee welfare, and critical improvements in oil and gas production. Notably, it reported 100 per cent pipeline availability—an essential benchmark for safeguarding national revenue streams.

Friday, August 7, 2026: After a morning departure from his residence, a requiem mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oba-Ile. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at 12:45 p.m. at Labaluyegbe Villa, followed by a reception at Aderonmu Grammar School Field.
The Bangbola Oyewo family of the Ese-Ola Royal House remembered him as a beloved family man, traditional leader, and an inspiration to generations of theatre practitioners.
