Media Overhaul Begins: Sani Installs Fresh Leadership at Kaduna Media Corporation

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has appointed Ben Kure as the new Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), following the promotion of the former MD, Ahmed Maiyaki, to the role of Commissioner for Information.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibraheem Musa.

Described as a seasoned communications professional and political strategist, Kure is expected to build upon what Governor Sani called the “excellent foundation” laid by Maiyaki, which has transformed KSMC into a key vehicle for effective government information dissemination and public engagement.

“Mr. Ben Kure is a public communication expert and political strategist, bringing a wealth of experience from public service, banking, and media to this new role,” the statement read.

Kure has held several prominent roles in both government and the private sector. He previously served as Chairman of Jaba Local Government Area (2016–2017), Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (2018–2019), and Special Adviser on Political Matters to former Governor Nasir El-Rufai (2019–2021), where he played a vital role in grassroots mobilisation and political communication.

In the banking sector, Kure’s career includes leadership roles at Oceanic Bank/Ecobank (2010–2012), Zenith Bank (2005–2006), and Broad Bank (2003–2004), where he worked in public sector finance and branch management.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Planning and a Master’s degree in Conflict, Peace, and Strategic Studies. He is also a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and a Member of the Institute of Management Consultants.

Governor Sani congratulated Kure on what he described as a “well-deserved” appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to enhance the state’s media communication framework.

“I believe Mr. Ben Kure will bring his wealth of experience and in-depth understanding of public engagement to deepen the progress made in our media operations,” the governor said. “KSMC must continue to serve as the credible voice of the government and a vital link with the people.”

The governor also prayed for divine guidance and success for the new MD in his new role.

Kure’s appointment comes at a time when the state government is intensifying efforts to improve transparency, civic inclusion, and effective communication with the public.

Shock In Benue As Police Nab Seven Over Abduction Of JAMB Candidates.

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of seven suspected militia herdsmen in connection with the abduction of passengers travelling in an 18-seater Benue Links bus along the Makurdi–Otukpo road last Wednesday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The victims, which included candidates of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) heading to Otukpo for their examinations, have all been successfully rescued.

Speaking while briefing Governor Hyacinth Alia in Makurdi during the presentation of the freed victims, the Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Emenari, said the rescue operation was achieved through coordinated efforts of multiple security agencies.

He explained that five of the abducted passengers were first released, while the remaining 13 were rescued on Sunday morning without injuries.

According to him, the combined pressure from security forces, supported by the state government and the Inspector-General of Police, led to the successful outcome of the operation.

He also noted that clearance operations have begun across forest areas in the state to flush out criminal groups, in line with directives from security authorities.

Governor Hyacinth Alia, while receiving the rescued passengers, expressed concern over rising cases of kidnapping in the state but welcomed the safe return of all 18 victims.

He confirmed that among those rescued were eight candidates on their way to write examinations, and called on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to reschedule the affected exams for them.

He further directed the state health authorities to conduct medical evaluations for all rescued persons and promised government support for those affected.
