Leading the group, Mustapha Adamu (popularly known as Shugaba) from Madobi Ward, said their decision was driven by a desire for positive change amid the growing hardship in the country.

“We can no longer remain in a party that has strayed from the principles of fairness, justice, and inclusivity,” Shugaba declared.

He criticised the APC for neglecting the welfare of the people and alienating its grassroots supporters, saying their defection was a collective decision rooted in hope for a better future.

“We believe the PDP is a party that truly prioritizes the needs of Nigerians. Its vision aligns with our aspirations for growth, justice, and development,” he added.

Shugaba called on other dissatisfied APC members to join the movement, urging them to align with a party that, in his words, offers a genuine platform for transformation.

“We invite others who share our vision to join us. Together, we can build a brighter future for our state and the nation at large.”

He expressed strong confidence in the PDP’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections, stating that the party’s message of hope and unity would resonate with the masses.

In his remarks, Umar Danjani, the PDP’s Deputy Chairman in Jigawa State—who represented the State Party Chairman—welcomed the new members with enthusiasm.

“This defection marks a significant milestone in our journey toward building a more inclusive and vibrant party in Jigawa,” he said.

Danjani reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to development, inclusivity, and people-focused governance, stressing that the party would remain relentless in delivering policies that benefit all citizens.

“We are focused on addressing the pressing challenges confronting our people. Together, we will work towards a prosperous Jigawa and Nigeria,” he stated.
