Political Sabotage? ADC Chieftain Alleges Malicious Plot Behind Fake Resignation

Published

on

Nafiu Bala, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Gombe State during the 2023 general elections, has firmly denied reports of his resignation from the party. The reports stemmed from a letter allegedly dated May 18, 2025, which Bala has described as fake and misleading.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement personally signed on Friday, Bala dismissed the document as entirely fabricated, accusing unnamed individuals within and outside the party of orchestrating a deliberate act of misinformation.

He said, “I am compelled to address a matter of utmost urgency—a forged resignation letter bearing my name, dated May 18, 2025. This letter, being circulated by certain mischievous actors, is completely false and without foundation.”

Bala stressed that he remains the Deputy National Chairman of the ADC, describing the letter as not only fraudulent but also filled with contradictions. He questioned its legitimacy, citing a key public event that contradicts its claims.

“Notably,” he said, “on July 2, 2025, during a formal meeting at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja where new members were received into the ADC, my predecessor Ralph Nwosu publicly announced his own resignation and clearly stated, ‘Nafiu Bala did not resign as the Deputy National Chairman.’”

He pointed out inconsistencies in the fake document, highlighting that it was written on plain paper without the party’s official emblem—unlike all his genuine correspondence, which is issued on ADC’s official letterhead.

Bala also took a swipe at individuals claiming new leadership roles within the ADC, questioning their legitimacy and reminding them of constitutional requirements.

“According to our Constitution,” he said, “anyone aspiring to a leadership role must have been a financial member of the party for at least one year. That provision remains unchanged and binding.”

He warned that any leadership transition not in line with these constitutional stipulations is null and void.

Calling for vigilance among party members and the public, Bala urged everyone to reject misinformation and attempts to destabilize the party.

“Our strength lies in democracy, transparency, and integrity,” he said. “I remain fully committed to the ADC and its mission of building a united and prosperous Nigeria. Together, we will continue to move forward in the service of our people.”

He explained that the late president stressed the importance of avoiding personal attacks, urging that political differences should be expressed in a respectful manner centered on public interest.
