The 44-year-old artist said he had been grappling with persistent fatigue, pain, and unexplained illness, which were later traced to Lyme disease. He explained that the diagnosis brought clarity to the physical and mental strain he experienced while performing.
Despite criticism from fans who noted a lack of energy during some shows, Timberlake revealed he had been silently enduring intense nerve pain and mental stress on stage.
“Among other things, I’ve been dealing with some health issues and was diagnosed with Lyme disease,” he shared. “I’m not saying this to get sympathy, but to shed light on what I’ve been going through behind the scenes. Living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically.”
“When I first got the diagnosis, I was definitely shocked,” he continued. “But at least it explained why I was sometimes on stage battling severe nerve pain or feeling overwhelming fatigue and illness.”
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted through tick bites, commonly found in wooded and grassy areas across North America and Europe.
