From Silver Screen to Silence: Ego Boyo Opens Up on Her Exit from Acting”
Veteran Nollywood actress Ego Boyo has clarified that her decision to step away from acting was purely personal and not influenced by her husband, contrary to widespread speculation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the 56-year-old actress explained that she left acting because she discovered a greater passion for film production.
“I quit acting when I realized I found more fulfillment in producing. Acting became boring. But the blogs wanted to spin a different narrative — that my husband stopped me — just to sensationalize the story, which wasn’t true,” she said.
Boyo, who rose to prominence in the early 1990s with her iconic role in the classic TV series Checkmate, began her career in the entertainment industry in the 1980s. Since transitioning from acting, she has focused on film production and other creative pursuits behind the camera.
She dismissed rumours that her husband influenced her career change, describing such claims as baseless and intended to create unnecessary drama.
In a related development, Nollywood actor Efa Iwara has expressed dissatisfaction with his current standing in the film industry.
Speaking during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the Men’s Club star admitted that while he acknowledges the progress he has made, he believes he has not yet reached his full potential.
“I’m not satisfied with where I am in my career. I believe I can achieve a lot more. I think there’s still untapped potential. I know I can push myself even harder, as long as I don’t compromise my health,” Iwara said, emphasizing his relentless drive for growth and excellence.
