Eddie Hearn: Jake Paul Priced Himself Out of Joshua Clash With $40M Ultimatum!

Negotiations for a potential blockbuster fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul have broken down after the American demanded a staggering $40 million purse, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Hearn confirmed that discussions had taken place in recent weeks, with a possible December bout on the table. However, the deal has now been ruled out due to what Hearn described as unrealistic financial expectations from Paul.

“Jake Paul wants $40 million to fight Anthony Joshua. It’s not happening,” Hearn told Boxing Social. “I don’t think he’s serious, and I don’t trust that he’d even follow through. I honestly think Francis Ngannou would destroy him—let alone AJ.”

The proposed fight had reportedly piqued the interest of Saudi adviser Turki Alalshikh, who was involved in early conversations. With talks now off, Hearn says Matchroom is actively exploring other options for Joshua’s December return.

“We want AJ back in the ring by December and are considering several potential opponents,” Hearn added. “Jake Paul just isn’t on that list anymore. He’s not easy to negotiate with.”

This latest development comes months after Hearn dropped a $100 million defamation lawsuit against Paul, which stemmed from accusations that Hearn had paid judge Glenn Feldman to favor Matchroom fighters. The settlement had seemingly opened the door for cooperation on other events, including the high-profile Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano trilogy.

A Joshua-Paul fight would have been a commercial juggernaut, likely filling Wembley Stadium and attracting massive transatlantic viewership. Yet Hearn maintains that the bout is a non-starter under current terms.

Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs), 35, is aiming to rebound from a fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024. The setback halted his campaign to become a three-time heavyweight champion, though he remains one of the division’s biggest attractions.

Looking ahead, a potential all-British clash between Joshua and Tyson Fury could materialize in 2026, especially now that Fury is no longer a titleholder. Interestingly, Fury has thrown his support behind Paul in a potential showdown.

“I think Jake Paul knocks him out,” Fury told The Ring. “AJ is a spent force. Jake Paul is rising. I think he’d stop him.”

Despite Fury’s prediction, a Joshua vs. Paul fight appears unlikely—unless Paul dramatically slashes his asking price.

Factional Crisis Rocks ADC In Akwa Ibom As Party Splits Deepen.

Barely a year after its inauguration in Akwa Ibom State, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been plunged into a deep factional crisis.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Multiple factions are now locked in a struggle for control of the party, leaving members uncertain about the legitimate leadership structure.

One faction is led by John Akpanudodehe, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while another is headed by the embattled state chairman, Dick Duke.

Although the leader of a third faction could not be immediately confirmed, findings indicate that another group also exists within the party.

Sources further suggest that the Akpanudodehe-led faction is seeking to remove the current chairman through a recently held congress that has sparked controversy.

In response, Dick Duke convened a stakeholders’ meeting over the weekend, where he rejected the legitimacy of the said congress.

He said the party had formally written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to distance itself from the exercise, citing a subsisting court order.

According to him, his tenure as state chairman is still valid until May, and any congress conducted before then would be unlawful.

Duke added that the party would only proceed with proper congresses after the expiration of his tenure and the resolution of legal issues, in line with due process.
