Tinubu’s Camp Defends Kwankwaso Meeting: ‘Nothing Unusual About Talking to the President!
Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Print Media, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, has downplayed concerns surrounding the President’s recent meeting with Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), describing it as a routine political engagement.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on The Morning Brief on Channels Television on Monday, Abdulaziz stressed that cross-party dialogue is a normal feature of democratic politics and should not be viewed with suspicion.
“Politicians talk — there’s nothing wrong with engaging across party lines,” he said. “The fact that the President or his allies are in communication with Kwankwaso shouldn’t raise eyebrows. It’s part of politics, where alignments and realignments are common.”
Abdulaziz pointed out that President Tinubu and Kwankwaso share a political history that spans more than 30 years, tracing back to their time as senators and subsequently as state governors.
“There’s absolutely nothing unusual about Kwankwaso speaking with the APC or with the President,” he added. “Their relationship goes way back. Tinubu has built political alliances over decades. Both he and Kwankwaso were elected to the National Assembly during the aborted transition of 1993, and again as governors in 1999. Given this history, it’s not surprising if they are now reconnecting or exploring new political arrangements.”
