2027 Shockwaves: ADC’s Problems No Excuse for APC’s Complacency – Sambo Roars

Recall that the opposition alliance officially adopted the ADC as its political platform on July 2, in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The coalition named former Senate President David Mark as its national chairman and ex-Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola as national secretary.
Speaking during Monday’s edition of The Morning Show on Arise Television, Sambo emphasized that the APC would be making a grave mistake by dismissing the strength of the coalition, especially amid internal discontent within the ruling party.
“When the APC was formed, many Nigerians didn’t give them a chance. Yet, look where they are today. There’s significant disaffection within the APC. While the ADC has its internal challenges, those in government need to tread carefully,” Sambo warned.
Meanwhile, the ADC has declared its intent to be a major contender, not just a participant, in the 2027 elections. In an interview with Vanguard on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the ADC was not fixated on the divisive issue of zoning.
Abdullahi added that the PDP had struggled to present a viable alternative to the APC, noting that the ADC was focused on building a grassroots-driven political structure. He said the party aims to redefine Nigeria’s political landscape by promoting competence, practical policies, and people-focused leadership over power-sharing arrangements.
He stressed that the ADC’s 2027 strategy would be rooted in meritocracy and national unity, rather than traditional zoning formulas.
