Stay Alive, Stay Healthy!” – Groups Sound Alarm, Urge Nigerians to Embrace Preventive Healthcare
The Onome Omobolaji Obada Foundation (OOF), ProHealth International, and the Christ Livingspring Apostolic Ministry (CLAM), Ogba, have jointly urged Nigerians to embrace preventive healthcare as a way to curb avoidable illnesses and deaths.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This appeal was made during a week‑long free medical outreach hosted at CLAM Soteria Maternity and Hospital, Omole, Lagos, which offered healthcare services to more than 5,000 residents from across the state and neighbouring areas.
The programme, which wrapped up on Friday, provided free general consultations, surgeries, eye and dental care, counselling, and medications.
Speaking at the event, OOF Foundation Director Omolade Olatawura underscored the importance of early intervention in managing health conditions.
“We’ve seen people walk in with conditions they’ve carried for eight or even 10 years. Some came with untreated hernias; one woman had multiple fibroids, and another had more than 65 fibroid lumps removed. Early diagnosis and regular check‑ups could have prevented this,” she explained.
Olatawura noted that the foundation is committed to closing gaps in healthcare access and promoting a culture of prevention.
“This is our fourth outreach in two years, and we’re not stopping. We’ve been to both rural and urban communities—Delta, Warri, Lagos—because the need is everywhere. Prevention is cheaper than cure, and all people need is the chance and encouragement to put their health first,” she said.
OOF and ProHealth revealed plans to extend the outreach to more states soon.
“We invite NGOs and partners to join us. Let’s move from city to city, state to state, and offer Nigerians the gift of health,” Olatawura added.
Dr. Lisa Olobio‑Oke of ProHealth International, which supplied volunteer medical staff for the outreach, also expressed concern over Nigerians’ poor attitude toward routine health checks.
