In a statement issued in Abuja by Meflyn Anwana, the governor’s aide on entrepreneurship development, it was revealed that each beneficiary received ₦75,000 under the initiative designed to alleviate poverty and cushion the impact of economic hardship.
Describing the intervention as timely, Eno said it aligns perfectly with his administration’s inclusive governance agenda and humanitarian focus.
Speaking at the programme’s flag-off held at the Women Development Centre in Uyo—and represented by the Coordinator in the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Helen Obareki—the governor lauded President Tinubu for prioritising the welfare of the poor and ensuring Akwa Ibom residents are carried along in the federal government’s social investment plans.
The statement read in part:
“Through President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, over 27,000 Akwa Ibom people have today received a conditional cash transfer of ₦75,000 each. This initiative, aimed at lifting the poorest of the poor and reducing economic hardship, mirrors our own humanitarian model in Akwa Ibom State.”
Eno reaffirmed his commitment to continued collaboration with the federal government, particularly through the implementation of his ARISE Agenda, to further support vulnerable citizens.
The statement also highlighted that since taking office in May 2023, the Eno-led administration has prioritized social welfare by creating the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and rolling out targeted interventions. These include delivering 205 homes, providing monthly stipends to 600 elderly citizens, and enrolling 1,287 senior citizens and persons with disabilities into health insurance schemes.
Additionally, 243 students with disabilities have received educational grants, while micro, small, and medium enterprises have been supported with equipment and funds, and youths empowered with ₦50,000 grants each.
“Our policies go beyond giving food or cash,” Eno said. “They are about restoring dignity, driving sustainable empowerment, and building a state where no one is left behind.”
