In a statement issued in Abuja by Meflyn Anwana, the governor’s aide on entrepreneurship development, it was revealed that each beneficiary received ₦75,000 under the initiative designed to alleviate poverty and cushion the impact of economic hardship.

Describing the intervention as timely, Eno said it aligns perfectly with his administration’s inclusive governance agenda and humanitarian focus.

Speaking at the programme’s flag-off held at the Women Development Centre in Uyo—and represented by the Coordinator in the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Helen Obareki—the governor lauded President Tinubu for prioritising the welfare of the poor and ensuring Akwa Ibom residents are carried along in the federal government’s social investment plans.

The statement read in part:
“Through President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, over 27,000 Akwa Ibom people have today received a conditional cash transfer of ₦75,000 each. This initiative, aimed at lifting the poorest of the poor and reducing economic hardship, mirrors our own humanitarian model in Akwa Ibom State.”

Eno reaffirmed his commitment to continued collaboration with the federal government, particularly through the implementation of his ARISE Agenda, to further support vulnerable citizens.

The statement also highlighted that since taking office in May 2023, the Eno-led administration has prioritized social welfare by creating the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and rolling out targeted interventions. These include delivering 205 homes, providing monthly stipends to 600 elderly citizens, and enrolling 1,287 senior citizens and persons with disabilities into health insurance schemes.

Additionally, 243 students with disabilities have received educational grants, while micro, small, and medium enterprises have been supported with equipment and funds, and youths empowered with ₦50,000 grants each.

“Our policies go beyond giving food or cash,” Eno said. “They are about restoring dignity, driving sustainable empowerment, and building a state where no one is left behind.”

Tension Rises In Sambisa Forest As Boko Haram And ISWAP Turn Against Each Other

Fresh intelligence from Borno State suggests a worsening confrontation between Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), as both groups reportedly battle for control within Sambisa Forest and nearby locations.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that the clashes have intensified in recent days, pointing to rising tension between the rival insurgent factions.

At about 8:43 p.m. on April 30, a reported exchange between suspected fighters reportedly shed light on the ongoing conflict.

A Boko Haram member identified as Ba Musa, believed to be operating around the Sambisa axis in Bama Local Government Area, was said to have communicated with an associate known as Ya Kazalla.

According to intelligence analyst Zagazola Makama, the conversation reflected conflicting claims about recent encounters between the groups.

Kazalla was said to have referenced reports suggesting ISWAP had recorded major victories, but Musa allegedly rejected the claims.

He reportedly insisted that Boko Haram had inflicted significant casualties on ISWAP, claiming about 100 fighters were killed during a confrontation on April 29 in the Sambisa Forest.

Musa also allegedly stated that seven additional ISWAP members were killed in another clash near Molai in Konduga Local Government Area.

He further claimed that Boko Haram suffered minimal losses, with only one fighter killed.

Security observers, however, note that such figures are difficult to independently verify, as both groups often release competing narratives to project strength and control.

Despite the uncertainty, the reports highlight the intensity of the rivalry and ongoing violence among the insurgent factions.

The Sambisa Forest and surrounding areas, including the Lake Chad basin, remain key operational strongholds for insurgent activity.

The region continues to experience both internal militant clashes and sustained counterterrorism operations by security forces.

Analysts say the growing infighting could weaken coordination among the groups, though it also introduces further unpredictability to the security situation in the region.

reports that Bello is set to contest for the Kogi Central senatorial seat under the APC platform.

He was reportedly adopted as the party’s consensus candidate after picking up the nomination forms on Saturday, signalling early political realignments within the ruling party.

Bello is expected to face the incumbent senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive race.

The contest is likely to revive the longstanding political tension between both figures, which dates back to her initial interest in the senatorial seat during Bello’s time as governor.

Although Akpoti-Uduaghan eventually won the seat in 2023, relations between both politicians have remained strained, with past allegations of threats made by the senator—claims Bello has repeatedly denied.

With Bello’s emergence as the APC candidate, the Kogi Central senatorial election is already shaping up as one of the major political battles ahead of 2027.
