The President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, confirmed the visit in a post on his handle.
Tinubu himself was part of that historic class, having served as Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007. That cohort of governors, who assumed office at Nigeria’s return to democratic rule, is widely credited with laying key foundations for the nation’s Fourth Republic.
Although details of the discussions were yet to be made public at press time, the meeting is believed to be part of Tinubu’s ongoing consultations with influential political stakeholders.
In a related development, Tinubu has urged APC governors to intensify efforts in delivering meaningful development to the grassroots.
Speaking during the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the APC at the State House Centre, he noted that Nigerians remain impatient for visible results.
“Nigerians are still complaining at the grassroots. To you, the governors, you have to wet the grass more and lead the way in delivering progressive change,” Tinubu said, stressing the need for unity, economic stability, and tangible improvements in people’s lives.
He further tasked the governors with leaving a legacy of development, disclosing plans for a committee of progressive governors to work with the FCT Minister on securing land for a befitting party secretariat.
“May God bless our democracy and give us more fertile lands,” Tinubu added.
