Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Thursday, Oyinlola described any defection by Adeleke as a “grave political error” that could jeopardize his future and abruptly derail his political career.

The warning comes on the heels of Governor Adeleke’s recent public endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election—an action that has fueled widespread speculation about his possible defection to the APC.

Although Adeleke has yet to formally declare any intention to leave the PDP, Oyinlola maintained that intense pressure is being mounted on the governor to cross over.

“APC has not fared well with the people of Osun. Asking him to roll over to APC would mean ruining his political future. Clearly, the people will not go along with that—and he knows it. But yes, there is pressure on him,” Oyinlola said.

He further expressed deep concern over the non-release of local government allocations in the state, a situation he noted has persisted for six months and crippled grassroots administration.

“It’s been six months since local government allocations in Osun State have been withheld. This has shortchanged the people because local governments are no longer functioning. As governor—someone in whom the people have vested their confidence—he must act to ensure the system of governance runs effectively,” he added.
