on

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today, Thursday, lead key stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the party’s much‑anticipated National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This session will be the first major convergence of APC leaders since the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, with a tribute planned in his honour.

Joining President Tinubu are Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, APC governors and ex‑governors, and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

Holding at the State House Conference Centre, the meeting is expected to shape crucial decisions on the party’s structure and direction as it gears up for the 2027 general elections. A major item on the agenda is the appointment of a substantive National Chairman to replace Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped down recently after consultations and reported health concerns.

Although speculation is rife about his possible successor, Thursday’s deliberations are expected to offer clarity.

In an unusual move, the APC national caucus meeting—traditionally held a day earlier—has been shelved for logistical reasons. To make up for this, the NEC session will be expanded to include caucus members so that all critical stakeholders are present.

Beyond filling vacant leadership positions, the gathering is expected to focus on strengthening party unity, reviewing opposition realignments, and setting a strategic tone for the 2027 elections. Party insiders also revealed that finances, reconciliation efforts in troubled state chapters, and a preliminary election timetable will feature prominently.

As outlined in the APC constitution, the NEC comprises the national chairman, deputy chairmen (North and South), national secretary, six zonal vice chairmen, principal national officers, state party chairmen, the president and vice president, presiding officers of the National Assembly, APC governors, and designated representatives from both chambers of the legislature.

The national caucus—made up of serving and former top leaders, including past presidents and vice presidents, national officers, governors, and BoT officials—is also part of this wider consultative process that will play a key role in shaping the party’s next chapter

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, urged examination officials to remain highly committed and professional, noting that the success of the exercise depends largely on their dedication.

Oloyede said many of the issues recorded during the mock exercise were due to poor assessment of centres by some technical officials.

He further stated that incentive packages would be awarded to teams that perform exceptionally, particularly in handling exam materials and submitting timely reports.

Reiterating JAMB’s zero-tolerance stance on malpractice, he warned candidates against bringing prohibited items into examination halls.
