Barcelona Pulls Plug on Japan Pre‑Season Tour – South Korea Stop Hanging by a Thread
Barcelona’s much‑anticipated pre‑season tour in Tokyo has been abruptly cancelled over what the club described as “serious contractual breaches” by the event’s promoter.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Spanish champions had been scheduled to play J1 League title‑holders Vissel Kobe this Sunday in a blockbuster friendly expected to pack out the stands.
However, in a statement issued on Thursday, July 24, the club confirmed the match would no longer hold and warned that the rest of their Asian schedule—particularly games in South Korea—also hangs in the balance unless certain conditions are fulfilled.
“Barcelona announces that it has been obliged to suspend its participation in the game scheduled for next Sunday in Japan due to serious contractual breaches on behalf of the promoter,” the statement read.
Though the club stopped short of naming the promoter, the Yasuda Group was previously linked to the tour’s organisation. As of press time, the group had yet to respond publicly.
Vissel Kobe, set to host the match, issued an apology to supporters:
“We sincerely apologise for any concern this may cause to the many fans and related parties who were looking forward to this match. Our club is working with all relevant stakeholders to gather information and take appropriate action.”
Barcelona’s next stop is scheduled to be South Korea, with fixtures lined up against FC Seoul and Daegu on July 31 and August 4. Yet the club has signalled that those matches are not guaranteed:
“The club will consider readjusting the leg of the summer tour in South Korea if certain conditions are met by the promoter. If these conditions are met, then the club will travel to South Korea in the coming days.”
South Korean organisers, D‑Drive, have meanwhile moved to calm nerves:
“We are doing our utmost to deliver unforgettable matches,” they assured.
Fresh from clinching their 28th La Liga crown, Barcelona had hoped the Asian tour would double as a pre‑season workout and a key marketing drive. But with Tokyo scrapped and Seoul still uncertain, the club now faces a race against time to salvage its summer campaign.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
