Treated Like Criminals! Nigerian DJ Exposes Alleged Racist Abuse by Philippine Authorities”

Published

Nigerian disc jockey Rachel Oluwabukola Martins, popularly known as DJ Dimple Nipple, has accused Philippine immigration officials of racism, harassment, and degrading treatment during her recent trip to Manila.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a lengthy Instagram statement titled “My Manila Immigration Nightmare” shared on Monday, Martins said she and her best friend were humiliated despite holding valid visas, return tickets, and support letters from the Nigerian Embassy.

According to her, what began as an exciting journey to perform in the Philippines quickly turned into a traumatic ordeal.

“I was so excited about my gig. I had prepared thoroughly, spent a lot of money, and made all the necessary arrangements. But the moment we got to immigration in Manila, everything changed,” she wrote.

Martins explained that after presenting their documents and sponsorship details, the officers became hostile. The two women were detained, interrogated for hours, and subjected to multiple invasive searches.

“They took our photos and told us to follow them to the supervisor’s office. We were left there for three hours without explanation. At one point, I needed to use the restroom, and a male officer followed me as though I was a criminal,” she recounted.

The DJ said over 30 officers searched their bags, filmed them, and even used sniffer dogs twice, examining their underwear, skincare, and personal items. Despite finding nothing, they were told they would not be allowed entry—with no official reason given.

“Some officers stopped recording, but others continued. A mounted camera was on us the entire time. When we tried to record for our safety, they told us it wasn’t allowed,” Martins stated.

She added that intervention by the event organizers CCMNL and the Nigerian Embassy in Manila made no difference. The women were eventually moved to a holding facility she described as “detention-like,” where they were forced to sleep on the floor until their outbound flight was rescheduled.

“My knees hurt so badly I could barely stand. When we asked why we were being denied entry, they said it was a personal decision and gave no reason,” Martins lamented.

Her account has sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians calling for a formal investigation and stronger diplomatic action.

He warned against dragging the state into fresh tension, accusing the state government of attempting to revive old allegations for political advantage.

Adewara said the PDP would not remain silent while what he called “political narratives” are used to influence public perception around a tragic incident that claimed multiple lives in Offa in 2018.

He also urged residents, especially affected families, not to allow their pain to be used for political gains, insisting it is unjust to associate Saraki with the crime.

The party further alleged that the move is aimed at distracting attention from governance challenges in the state.
