The attack took place on Sunday, July 20, 2025, when the assailants reportedly gained access to the village through the Yankari Game Reserve.
According to the Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, the attackers ransacked five provision stores and seized four individuals identified as Tasiu Malam Yahaya (32), Hakilu Ubayo (15), Abdul Aziz Suleiman (28), and Rabiu Ganjua (16).
Wakil explained that the victims, who owned the shops, were taken to an unknown location. “Upon receiving the distress call, the Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori-Aliyu, immediately directed the DPO of Alkaleri and other security outfits, including the vigilante and hunters groups, to launch a patrol and pursue the criminals,” he said.
He added that special hunters have been deployed and extensive search operations are ongoing in the surrounding bushes to rescue the abductees and track down the perpetrators.
“The area is currently calm, and residents have resumed their daily activities, while efforts continue to ensure the safe return of the victims and the arrest of those behind this heinous act,” Wakil assured.
