Tears and Confessions: Dayo Amusa Addresses HIV Allegations Head‑On!

Published

Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has publicly refuted claims in a viral video that listed her among Nigerian celebrities allegedly living with HIV.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to reports, the controversy began after a content creator, Olaoluwa Segun, circulated a video online in which he falsely named five actors—among them Amusa and veteran actor Hanks Anuku—as HIV positive.

Reacting via an Instagram video, Amusa expressed shock and disappointment over the allegation, firmly stating that she is HIV negative.

She recalled that back in 2019 she had shared an HIV awareness post to encourage people to know their status and seek medical help when necessary. Unfortunately, Segun allegedly dug up that post years later and twisted its context without verifying the facts.

Amusa questioned why anyone would circulate such a damaging claim without proof and challenged Segun to present the name of any hospital or laboratory that supposedly confirmed her status.

“I’m not going to let this slide. I will make you a scapegoat—not because I take pleasure in it, but because you and others like you need to learn a lesson. If you must make headlines, verify and ask questions before putting people on the spot,” she declared.

Following her outburst, Segun issued a public apology, admitting that his claims were false. He clarified that although Amusa had spoken about HIV on television in the past, she never claimed to be positive.
