Defection Drama Shattered: Ekiti APC Swears Fayemi Isn’t Going Anywhere”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has dismissed reports alleging that former Governor Kayode Fayemi is plotting to destabilise the party or woo members through a clandestine stakeholders’ meeting.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement on Sunday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, described the circulating claims as pure fabrication by mischief makers intent on stirring internal discord.
“We are not perturbed. This is simply the season of propaganda—lies, half‑truths and distractions meant to confuse the people,” Dipe said.
“Anyone genuinely interested in knowing what is happening within our party should reach out to me as the official spokesperson instead of feeding on gutter rumours.”
According to the reports, Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other APC leaders were allegedly uncomfortable with a meeting Fayemi was said to be planning—supposedly to signal his loyalty to African Democratic Congress (ADC) associates.
Dipe dismissed the claim as baseless:
“How can such a thing happen in a party as grounded and focused as ours, especially when we are preparing to make history by producing a governor who will serve two consecutive terms in Ekiti?
Anything contrary is the handiwork of external forces.”
He also warned those behind the speculation:
“We are the most formidable political party in this state and in the country. Of course, there are people looking for cracks to exploit and cause confusion, including enemies within. But they won’t succeed—not even by an inch.”
Dipe reaffirmed that all party stakeholders, including Fayemi, are united behind Oyebanji’s re‑election bid:
“One good turn deserves another. Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has impressed both the party and the electorate and deserves a second term. This is the position of all stakeholders—Fayemi inclusive.”
He stressed that Fayemi, as a pillar of the party, has every right to convene meetings aimed at strengthening the APC:
“Why not? He will never allow the house he laboured to build to collapse. Any meeting he calls is to advance our collective objective.”
On the ongoing endorsements of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji by various groups, Dipe said:
“While we may not be directly involved, we have no reason to discourage such efforts because they help consolidate our hold on governance. We are not gamblers—we are a focused party.”
Dipe concluded with a strong caution to those spreading rumours:
“Busy bodies and meddlesome interlopers cannot derail the APC from its course. We remain committed to winning back‑to‑back elections, both at the state and national level. We are not distracted by what lesser parties are doing; our focus is on our own agenda
