In a statement released on Sunday, Maduabum confirmed that he has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that the PDP “has been hijacked by self‑serving, unscrupulous elements.”

According to him, the PDP no longer embodies the ideals it once championed. “It is now a shadow of its former self,” he said, blaming internal chaos, betrayal, and an erosion of core principles for his decision to leave.

“Voices of reason are no longer welcome, and genuine reformers are vilified or silenced. I cannot, in good conscience, remain in a party that has lost its moral compass,” Maduabum added.

Explaining why he chose the ADC, he praised the party’s “growing credibility” and its commitment to “good governance, accountability, and inclusion.” He described the ADC as “a beacon of hope” and “a credible democratic alternative.”

“I join the ADC not merely as a defector but as a reformer. The party offers a viable platform for principled, people‑oriented leadership,” he said.

Maduabum also highlighted the presence of “progressive‑minded leaders like Mr. Peter Obi” within the ADC, noting that this was a key factor in his defection. He urged Nigerians disillusioned by traditional political platforms to consider the ADC as a movement for genuine national renewal.

“I urge all well‑meaning Nigerians, especially those disillusioned by the traditional parties, to join the movement for a new Nigeria,” he appealed, pledging his continued dedication to justice, equity, and selfless service.

He warned against dragging the state into fresh tension, accusing the state government of attempting to revive old allegations for political advantage.

Adewara said the PDP would not remain silent while what he called “political narratives” are used to influence public perception around a tragic incident that claimed multiple lives in Offa in 2018.

He also urged residents, especially affected families, not to allow their pain to be used for political gains, insisting it is unjust to associate Saraki with the crime.
