ADC Politicians Slammed: Buhari’s Massive Vote Bank Is Beyond Your Reach – Okechukwu

Published

on

Former Director‑General of the Voice of Nigeria (VoN), Osita Okechukwu, has declared that no politician within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) can step into the shoes of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to him, none of the politicians in the opposition coalition can lay claim to Buhari’s famed 12‑million vote bank.

Speaking on Sunday in Abuja after an interdenominational church service held in Buhari’s honour, Okechukwu argued that the qualities that endeared Buhari to the masses—his integrity, transparency, moral discipline, and uncommon humanity—are absent in those now positioning themselves to inherit his political base.

“With the greatest respect to those prominent politicians who are eager to inherit the late President Buhari’s celebrated 12‑million vote bank, let me state clearly: Buhari’s shoes are far too big. His humanity, integrity, transparency quotient and moral compass are unmatched, and aspiring to them is a herculean task,” Okechukwu said.

He continued:

“None of them, in all their years of public service, has demonstrated a similar moral compass or waged a genuine anti‑corruption war against primitive accumulation. They lack the character strength Buhari displayed and have never run an election campaign free of the baggage of vote‑buying.”

Okechukwu stressed that Buhari’s mass appeal—fondly captured in his nickname Mai Gaskiya (the Honest Man)—was rooted in over five decades of public service under close scrutiny without blemish.

He accused some of those seeking to inherit Buhari’s popularity of being among those who, in the guise of privatization, allegedly stripped national assets such as NEPA, the Aluminum Smelter Company, and Ajaokuta Steel, without tangible results.

The APC chieftain went on to recount Buhari’s remarkable career spanning 1975 to 2025, during which he served as Governor of the defunct North‑East, Federal Commissioner for Petroleum Resources, GOC of three military divisions, Military Head of State, Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF), and finally civilian President—all without scandal.

He expressed astonishment that key ADC aspirants seem to believe they can ride on Buhari’s northern political support base to achieve their ambitions:

“Flying the so‑called Northern card is a mirage. The Northern electorate is one of the most sophisticated in the country, as seen when they overwhelmingly supported MKO Abiola in 1993 and gave Tinubu more votes in 2023 than the South did.”

Okechukwu warned that those scheming to exploit Buhari’s legacy risk deepening regional divides:

“Anyone hoping to tap into Buhari’s 12‑million vote bank is consciously pitching the North against the South, attempting to disrupt the convention of two terms for each region.”

He urged such politicians to rethink their strategy, stressing that equity, justice, and fairness remain the foundation of Nigeria’s democracy.

“In any case, there is nothing to fear. None of them possesses Buhari’s moral compass or discipline, and, most importantly, none of them ever embraced Malam Aminu Kano’s Talakawa (pro‑poor) tradition that earned Buhari his cult‑like northern following,” Okechukwu concluded.

Factional Crisis Rocks ADC In Akwa Ibom As Party Splits Deepen.

Published

on

Barely a year after its inauguration in Akwa Ibom State, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been plunged into a deep factional crisis.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Multiple factions are now locked in a struggle for control of the party, leaving members uncertain about the legitimate leadership structure.

One faction is led by John Akpanudodehe, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while another is headed by the embattled state chairman, Dick Duke.

Although the leader of a third faction could not be immediately confirmed, findings indicate that another group also exists within the party.

Sources further suggest that the Akpanudodehe-led faction is seeking to remove the current chairman through a recently held congress that has sparked controversy.

In response, Dick Duke convened a stakeholders’ meeting over the weekend, where he rejected the legitimacy of the said congress.

He said the party had formally written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to distance itself from the exercise, citing a subsisting court order.

According to him, his tenure as state chairman is still valid until May, and any congress conducted before then would be unlawful.

Duke added that the party would only proceed with proper congresses after the expiration of his tenure and the resolution of legal issues, in line with due process.
