‘Intimidation and Pressure Everywhere’ – Insider Recounts Explosive Peter Obi Meeting

Published

on

Former social media aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has shared details of his recent encounter with former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, during a condolence visit to Daura, Katsina State....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to reports, Obi—Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate—was at Buhari’s residence to pay his respects to the late former president’s family. Bashir later posted photos with Obi on his X (formerly Twitter) account, writing:

“We sincerely appreciate Mr. @PeterObi for finding time to visit Daura to condole with the family of former President Muhammadu Buhari. He also extended his heartfelt condolences to us. We wish him a safe journey back home.”

However, the post sparked backlash from some self‑acclaimed “Obidient” supporters, who accused Bashir of hypocrisy for openly engaging with Obi.

In a lengthy clarification titled “My Meeting With Peter Obi in Daura,” Ahmad described Obi’s fan base as “experts in bullying, gatekeeping, and intolerance.” He lamented that such behavior makes it harder for Obi to build the broad alliances necessary to win a presidential election.

Ahmad recounted how the meeting unfolded:

“When I arrived at Baba’s residence that morning, many dignitaries were already seated for the prayer session. I first greeted Mallam Mamman Daura, then Atiku Abubakar, Mallam Nasir el‑Rufai, and finally Mr. Peter Obi, who was sitting with Mallam. Interestingly, Mr. Obi mentioned something I had recently tweeted, and we both smiled before I moved on.”

Later, Obi again offered his condolences, praised Ahmad’s loyalty to Buhari, and joked about him “coming over to support” him, while commenting on the vast agricultural land he noticed on his way to Daura. Ahmad said there was no political discussion—just a brief, cordial exchange.

“To my surprise,” Ahmad added, “after posting our photos, it wasn’t critics from my own party who attacked me, but Obi’s supporters. Good thing my party members understand the situation—we don’t politicize everything.”

He stressed that Obi had come purely out of respect for Buhari, not for political maneuvering:

“I didn’t visit Peter Obi; he came to us. It was simply a humane, respectful moment during a period of mourning.”

Ahmad concluded by warning that the hostile behavior of some Obi supporters undermines the former governor’s chances:

“With such supporters, who are only experts in bullying, gatekeeping and intolerance, it’s hard for Mr. Obi to build the broad coalition needed to become President. His supporters alone are not enough—and they attack, block, and harass those who might otherwise be willing to help.”

Makinde made the declaration on Thursday during the APM South-West town hall meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

He expressed confidence that the party would secure a sweeping victory in the 2027 polls, describing its agenda as a plan to reset the country.

Makinde made the prediction after Mohammed was introduced at the gathering and described as an incoming senator.

Speaking at the event, the APM presidential candidate said, “Well, APM is going to win this election overwhelmingly because this is the reset agenda being put before Nigerians, so I dare to say that my national leader is the incoming Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

He urged Nigerians to listen to the party’s message and support its proposed agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.

Makinde also discussed the qualities he believes Nigerians should consider when choosing their next president, arguing that physical energy and the ability to tackle national challenges should take precedence over age.

According to him, the next president must possess the stamina to work long hours and respond effectively to the country’s pressing problems.

He stated, “While I will not make age an issue in this campaign, I will make energy, having energy, being able to stay up late to deal with the challenges we face as a country.”

Makinde further challenged presidential candidates to demonstrate their physical fitness, urging voters to consider their capacity to handle the demands of the presidency.

“So please, when they bring their presidential candidates, let the candidates be able to jump, and if they can do that, vote for them,” he added.
