Premier League Earthquake: Henderson Heads Back to England in Dramatic Brentford Deal!

The 34‑year‑old joins the Bees on a free transfer after ending his brief spell with Ajax, which followed a controversial stint in Saudi Arabia with Al‑Ettifaq.
Henderson’s arrival is seen as a major statement of ambition from Brentford, who are eager to inject leadership and experience into the squad following a summer of high‑profile departures.
“When we learned Jordan was available, the decision was straightforward,” head coach Keith Andrews said. “We assessed his recent performances, and it’s clear he remains in exceptional shape and deeply motivated to achieve more in the game. He will set standards and be a fantastic influence in our dressing room.”
The move comes at a crucial time for Brentford, who recently lost key figures such as Christian Nørgaard, Mark Flekken, and Ben Mee. Henderson, capped 84 times for England, brings a wealth of pedigree and a reputation as one of the game’s most respected leaders.
During his 12 years at Liverpool, he lifted virtually every major club honour: the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and the Community Shield. Having succeeded Steven Gerrard as captain in 2015, Henderson became integral to Liverpool’s renaissance under Jürgen Klopp.
“Jordan has been one of the Premier League’s most influential leaders in recent times,” Andrews added. “He’s been at the heart of title‑winning and Champions League‑chasing teams at one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
Henderson began his top‑flight journey at Sunderland, breaking through as a teenager and making 70 league appearances before his £20 million move to Liverpool in 2011. He departs Anfield with 492 appearances and 33 goals to his name — and now, a fresh chapter begins with Brentford.
