Mohammed, who previously served under Buhari as Minister of Environment and earlier at the Petroleum Trust Fund, signed the condolence register and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul.
She described the late Nigerian leader as a man of rare discipline, deep conviction, and unwavering patriotism—qualities she said would keep his legacy alive far beyond Nigeria’s borders.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria after signing the register, the UN’s second‑highest‑ranking official reflected on her long working relationship with Buhari, recalling him as a leader deeply devoted to his people and his country.
“He was a man of discipline, a man of conviction, and, as we say in Hausa, a man of kishin kasa—patriotism,” Mohammed said. “He was a true patriot who believed in his country, believed in his people, and gave his best.”
She noted that Buhari often reminded his team that public service is ultimately about humanity—demanding patience, faith, and sincerity of purpose.
“When we were frustrated, he would remind us that we are serving humanity, that we are serving people. We must have patience, we must have faith, and we must always strive to do our best because we will be judged by our intentions,” she added.
Mohammed described Buhari’s death as a profound loss, especially at a time when the world faces moral challenges and a drift in values.
“This is a moment to dig deep and remember what he taught us,” she said. “We will always stand on his shoulders for many reasons. Today is one of deep sadness, and we stand in solidarity with his wife, his children, his family, and we pray for him—may he be granted Al Jannah Firdaus.”
She further highlighted Buhari’s enduring courage and his consistent commitment to putting Nigeria and Africa first.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
