Kwankwaso Going Nowhere – NNPP Blasts Political Mischief Over Defection Claims
The Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Hashimu Dungurawa, has dismissed widespread rumours suggesting that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is planning to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Addressing journalists on Monday, Dungurawa stressed that Kwankwaso is not the type of politician who makes rash decisions without thorough evaluation and foresight.
“The claim that Kwankwaso is joining the ADC or any other party is nothing more than political wishful thinking by those intimidated by his influence. I know him well—he’s deliberate and calculated. He won’t rush to declare any political move,” Dungurawa said.
He added, “Kwankwaso remains the most influential political figure in Northern Nigeria today. Politicians across the region look up to him. So, to suggest that he’s decamping at this point is both premature and mischievous.”
Reacting to speculations that Kwankwaso has been meeting with members of other political camps, Dungurawa clarified, “As a seasoned politician with a doctorate, Kwankwaso will continue to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. Talking to others is part of politics—it doesn’t equate to defection. He’s not going to hide or isolate himself.”
He went on to criticize those raising alarm over Kwankwaso’s interactions, describing them as disingenuous. “Those who claim to be his followers but panic over such encounters are pretenders. True supporters know that Kwankwaso never makes decisions without broad consultation—even down to the grassroots level.”
On the performance of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Dungurawa said the opposition has been rendered speechless by the governor’s achievements.
“Governor Yusuf’s infrastructural strides in the past two years have silenced the opposition. They have no presence or counter-argument anymore. We are proud of his work and what he represents for the NNPP,” he declared.
