Speaking on Friday in Anambra State during the campaign flag-off for Labour Party governorship candidate George Moghalu and his running mate, Lady Ifeoma Okaro, Obi addressed what he described as “confusion making the rounds.”

“Let me be unequivocal: I, along with the Labour Party’s National Assembly members, am part of the coalition that adopted ADC for 2027. But as of today, we are members of the Labour Party,” Obi stated.

He emphasised that his commitment to the Labour Party remains steadfast, even as he collaborates with other opposition leaders to build a broad-based alliance ahead of the next general election.

“If anyone asks you where Peter Obi belongs today, tell them Peter Obi is in the Labour Party. If they ask about the coalition, let them know it’s for 2027,” he declared.

Obi also used the occasion to officially reaffirm his intention to run for president again in 2027, boldly telling the cheering crowd: “Everyone is free to contest the presidency, but let it be known—I am in the race, and nobody does it better than me.”

Moghalu Vows to Lead with Integrity and Godliness

George Moghalu, the Labour Party’s candidate for the November 8, 2025, Anambra governorship election, pledged to deliver a government anchored on inclusivity, justice, and reverence for God.

“We will govern Anambra with the fear of God and depend entirely on His grace,” Moghalu said.

He promised that his administration would implement a responsible tax system without resorting to the use of touts or thuggery for revenue collection.

“Yes, we will expect citizens to pay their taxes. But we will never send pestle-wielding thugs after the people in the name of revenue enforcement,” he assured.

Labour Party Reaffirms Grassroots Strength

Also speaking at the rally, Anambra State Labour Party Chairman, Ugochukwu Emeh, said the event was not just a campaign kickoff but a reaffirmation of the party’s grassroots strength, commitment to justice, and people-driven governance.

“This campaign is a message to every corner of Anambra: Labour Party stands for equity, inclusion, and accountable leadership,” he said.
