According to a statement shared with Saturday PUNCH, the competition, themed “Celebrating the Unique Qualities of Children with Disabilities and Strengthening Their Capabilities,” took place at the LASODA headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja.
The statement explained that the initiative was designed to promote academic excellence, self-confidence, and inclusion among pupils with disabilities in primary schools across the state. It also aimed to enhance parental engagement in the education of their children.
Following a tightly contested quiz session, Wesley School 2 for the Deaf in Surulere clinched the top spot, while Wesley School 1 for the Deaf, also in Surulere, came second. Ojuwoye Community School Inclusive Unit in Mushin secured third place.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of gifts and awards to the winners, recognising their exceptional achievements. LASODA described the event as a vital step toward fostering a more inclusive society where individuals of all abilities are empowered to learn, compete, and thrive.
It also served as a platform for students with disabilities to demonstrate their academic strengths and engage in fair competition with their peers.
