They Can’t Shake Us’ — PDP Chieftain Mocks ADC’s Relevance in Bauchi
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bala Chiroma, has dismissed concerns that the newly formed coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) poses any threat to the PDP’s dominance in Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In an exclusive chat with journalists in Bauchi, Chiroma—who also serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Youth to Governor Bala Mohammed—maintained that the ADC lacks both the structure and grassroots appeal to challenge the PDP in Bauchi or on the national stage.
“The ADC is not a real political party in the sense of the All Progressives Congress (APC). It’s more of a coalition or association, not a properly constituted political party like the PDP, which has established structures across all 774 local government areas in the country,” he said.
Chiroma stressed that since its formation in 1998, the PDP has never changed its name or merged with any other party. “Unlike the APC and now the ADC, which are filled with former PDP members who left the party to pursue personal ambitions, the PDP remains the only consistent and cohesive party in Nigeria,” he stated.
With just about a year to the 2027 elections, Chiroma questioned how a little-known coalition like the ADC—largely unfamiliar to ordinary Nigerians—intends to make any electoral impact without visible structures at the grassroots level.
He further accused former PDP members now in the ADC of being ungrateful and lacking political foresight, despite the PDP being responsible for their rise to prominence. “They enjoyed relevance and visibility thanks to the PDP, and now they’ve turned their backs to form alliances aimed at undermining the same party that made them,” he said.
Chiroma reiterated his belief that only the PDP has the capacity and credibility to rescue Nigeria from its current socioeconomic and political challenges. “I urge Nigerians to disregard both ADC and APC and rally behind the PDP, which remains the only party with a clear vision, mission, and ability to deliver meaningful change,” he declared.
Arewa PUNCH reports that Chiroma’s remarks follow a wave of defections from the PDP to the ADC coalition in Bauchi State.
Meanwhile, ADC’s Bauchi State Chairman, Hassan Haruna, told Arewa PUNCH that the coalition continues to attract high-profile politicians in the state, including two former governorship candidates—Abubakar Sadiq and Halliru Jika—who have recently joined the ADC fold.
