Dele Momodu Sounds Alarm: Tinubu Has Caged the South, Opposition Needs Northern Firepower!”

Former presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, has expressed strong belief that a joint opposition ticket featuring Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar holds the greatest potential to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Momodu shared his thoughts in a Facebook post, apparently responding to comments by Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesman, who had dismissed the viability of an Atiku-Obi ticket during a recent television interview.

According to Momodu, no Southern candidate can unseat Tinubu in 2027, as the president has already secured a dominant grip on the South. He argued that only a Northern-backed ticket would possess the mobilizing power and electoral stake necessary to challenge the incumbent, much like what occurred in 2015.

While pledging to support any consensus candidate produced by the emerging opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Momodu emphasized that an Atiku-Obi alliance still represents the most formidable threat to Tinubu’s reelection bid.

“In 2019, I supported Atiku and Obi as my presidential and vice-presidential candidates,” he wrote. “In 2023, I supported Atiku and Okowa. If Atiku wins the coalition ticket in 2027, I will support him and whoever he picks as his running mate. If Obi emerges as the coalition flagbearer, I will gladly support him and his vice-presidential nominee. Even if it’s Amaechi, I will stand behind him.”

He added, “President Tinubu may have the advantage of distributing appointments and resources, but I prefer the road less traveled.”

Momodu praised Atiku Abubakar as one of Nigeria’s most liberal and detribalized former vice presidents, highlighting his strong economic team and post-office investments in education and business. Similarly, he described Peter Obi as a distinguished entrepreneur and transformational governor, whose previous alliance with Atiku offered—and still offers—genuine hope for Nigeria.

“They remain my dream team based on their experience and global exposure,” he said.

Looking ahead to 2027, Momodu maintained: “Mathematically and politically, I am convinced that no Southerner alone can defeat Tinubu. He has already consolidated the South. Only if the North sees a real stake in the contest—just like in 2015—can it mobilize en masse, vote decisively, and defend those votes.”

  • Cash Deposits: Agulu testified that he deposited billions of naira in cash on behalf of the former CBN chief, with the funds delivered to him by Emefiele’s former personal assistant, Eric Ocheme.

  • Account Handling: According to the witness, the money was either deposited into accounts for Kelvito Integrated Services and Ifeabigo Integrated Services or placed in the bank’s vault, following instructions allegedly relayed through Ocheme.

  • Banking Procedures: Despite the large sums, Agulu maintained that he followed standard banking procedures, noting that some clients were granted verbal waivers by senior officials to deposit large amounts of cash.
