Katsina State Governor, Dr Dikko Radda, has reaffirmed that poverty and unemployment remain the underlying causes of insurgency and the surge in criminal activities across Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to NIVONEWS, Governor Radda made the remarks on Wednesday while receiving a high-level delegation from the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), under the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), alongside officials from the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), at the Government House in Katsina.

The delegation was in the state to formally present the “Sustainable Rehabilitation and Reintegration Project for Improved Livelihood and National Security,” a joint initiative designed to economically empower conflict-affected communities using climate-smart, integrated agricultural practices. The project, backed by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in May 2025, seeks to promote long-term peace and development.

Labour Minister: Government’s Focus Is On Supporting Job Creation, Not Direct Hiring

Radda noted that the fight against insecurity must go beyond military force. “Insurgency thrives where economic hardship exists,” he said. “If we must win this war, both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies are necessary—starting with poverty eradication.”

According to NIVONEWS, the governor pledged full support for the programme, directing the Ministries of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Agriculture, and the Agricultural Development Unit to drive the state’s involvement.

Mr. Denis Ozioko, who led the NCTC delegation, said the visit was to brief the governor in person, as he was absent during the MoU signing ceremony. Ozioko added that several other northern states had shown strong interest in the project, which is expected to enhance community resilience and national security.

Mr. Prakash Kantsilwal of IITA elaborated on the initiative’s core vision, stressing that its focus is on rebuilding lives through sustainable agriculture, local trade, and peaceful coexistence.

According to NIVONEWS, Governor Radda praised the project as a strategic intervention that aligns with his administration’s agenda to tackle insecurity at its roots—through economic empowerment, youth engagement, and rural development.

Momodu Defends Atiku Amid Age Criticism Ahead Of 2027 Presidential Contest.

Published

ADC chieftain and publisher, Dele Momodu, has dismissed calls for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race, describing the push as unfair and politically motivated.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Momodu was reacting to comments by activist Zekeri Idris Jnr, a supporter of Peter Obi, who urged Atiku to step aside over concerns about his age, which would be about 80 by 2027.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Momodu said attention should be focused on holding the government accountable rather than targeting Atiku’s political ambition.

The exchange followed a viral video where Idris insisted that Atiku should support younger aspirants instead of contesting, arguing that voters would not back an elderly candidate.

Idris also suggested that Atiku should act as a statesman and support younger politicians such as Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and others.

Responding, Momodu cited several world leaders who held office at advanced ages, arguing that experience should not be dismissed in leadership discussions.

He questioned what should disqualify Atiku from contesting, insisting that age alone is not a valid reason.

Atiku, who lost the 2023 presidential election to President Bola Tinubu, is reportedly considering another run in 2027 under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
