Fake News Frenzy: ADC Slams Circulating List of Chairmen, Cautions Nigerians on Fraudulent Links
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has firmly disowned a widely circulated list on social media purporting to name its state chairmen, cautioning Nigerians to disregard the publication and beware of online fraudsters.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued Wednesday evening, the party’s interim spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the list—which claims to name chairmen for all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)—as entirely fabricated and unauthorized.
“The ADC has made no such appointments, and no official communication has been issued concerning state leadership,” Abdullahi clarified.
He urged the public to verify all official ADC communications exclusively through the party’s verified (formerly Twitter) account, managed by the National Publicity Secretary via @BolajiADC.
“Any information that doesn’t originate from our official channels or is not confirmed on the page of the National Publicity Secretary should be dismissed,” he said.
The ADC also raised concern over the emergence of fraudulent online platforms masquerading as registration portals for party membership, allegedly collecting payments from unsuspecting Nigerians.
“These are scams,” Abdullahi warned. “The ADC has not approved any online payment system for membership registration.”
He reiterated that such schemes are deliberate attempts to extort citizens and tarnish the party’s image.
Abdullahi urged Nigerians to exercise vigilance and rely only on authorised and credible platforms for information on ADC activities, including ongoing coalition discussions and party registration.
