According to NIVONEWS, the prestigious recognition covers the combined admission years of 2023/2024 and 2024/2025, with ABU earning a total of 14 aggregate points — the highest among all participating institutions — across the five core elements of the Mega Award.

At the award presentation ceremony held in Abuja, the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmed, handed over a ₦500 million cheque and certificate of award to the Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Professor Adamu Ahmed. She was joined by JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, and other senior officials of the examination body.

According to NIVONEWS, key representatives from ABU’s management team, including members of the Governing Council — Prof Mato D. Dogara and Dr Claris Ujah — as well as the Registrar, Malam Rabiu Samaila, and Admissions Officer, Malam Mohammed Aminu Garba, were present to witness the momentous event.

Speaking at the occasion, Prof Oloyede explained that the NATAP-M award was instituted to enhance transparency in admissions, promote gender inclusion, strengthen national integration, and encourage institutions to admit candidates from all 36 states of the federation, in line with JAMB’s commitment to fairness and diversity.

The JAMB Registrar also highlighted the importance of internationalisation in Nigeria’s tertiary education system, adding that the award serves as a catalyst for raising standards and promoting healthy competition across institutions.

In his remarks, Vice-Chancellor Prof Ahmed thanked JAMB for the honour and pledged that ABU would intensify its efforts to boost Nigeria’s global university ranking.
