Bwala Drops Bombshell: Atiku’s Road to Aso Rock Permanently Blocked”

Bwala, who previously served as Atiku’s spokesperson during the 2023 presidential campaign, made the remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday.
“In all sincerity, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—it may never have been in God’s plan for Atiku Abubakar to become president. He has made every effort, taken every necessary step, and yet, the presidency has eluded him,” Bwala said. “The 2023 election represented his best chance, and I don’t believe such an opportunity will come his way again.”
He also dismissed the credibility of the emerging opposition alliance, which includes Labour Party’s Peter Obi and former APC stalwart Rotimi Amaechi, describing the group as lacking vision and cohesion. According to Bwala, the decision to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their political platform is inconsequential, as the coalition offers no viable alternative to President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“What I find particularly puzzling is that this coalition of what I call ‘internally displaced politicians’ has yet to offer any concrete alternative facts, policies, or programmes,” he said. “Even during Peter Obi’s recent interview, there was nothing substantive to counter the current administration’s policies.”
Bwala further predicted the alliance would not last, warning that internal rivalries and conflicting ambitions—particularly over the choice of a presidential candidate—would cause the coalition to collapse within six months.
He cited a comment from Labour Party’s 2023 vice presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, who reportedly acknowledged that the biggest threat to the coalition is the unrelenting ambition of its members.
“One of them—Datti Baba-Ahmed—has already seen the cracks forming. He said, and I quote, ‘the problem of this coalition will be who wants to be president, because everyone wants the top seat.’ Mark my words, in the next six months, this so-called coalition will no longer exist. It will implode,” Bwala concluded.
