According to NIVONEWS, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Bashiru, has asserted that the North remains firmly behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, despite swirling rumours of a regional gang-up.

Speaking during a media roundtable on Monday in Ibadan, organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zone B, Bashiru dismissed claims of a northern conspiracy against Tinubu’s 2027 ambition, describing the narrative as “a lie from the pit of hell.”

He stated that Tinubu continues to receive enthusiastic support across northern cities such as Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe.

“It’s a lie from the pit of hell to claim the North is ganging up against Tinubu. I say this from a position of knowledge,” Bashiru declared.
“I am not a flimsy person. I guide myself by Amilcar Cabral’s words: ‘Tell no lies, claim no easy victories.’”

He emphasized that public support for the president in the North remains visible and robust, citing spontaneous street celebrations in places like Kano, Katsina, and Gombe. He also noted that Dauda Kahutu Rarara’s song, ‘Omo Ologo’, composed in honour of Tinubu, has become an anthem in many northern communities.

Bashiru further described the opposition ADC coalition as a “mushroom party” and a political “contraption” lacking both structure and relevance.

He maintained that APC structures across northern states—such as Sokoto, Bauchi, Kebbi, and Zamfara—are solidly aligned with Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid, adding that influential northern leaders are rallying behind the president in contrast to those peddling what he termed “beer-parlour gossip.”

He warned against dragging the state into fresh tension, accusing the state government of attempting to revive old allegations for political advantage.

Adewara said the PDP would not remain silent while what he called “political narratives” are used to influence public perception around a tragic incident that claimed multiple lives in Offa in 2018.
