During a courtesy visit to Governor Uba Sani at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Friday evening—held in advance of the 2025 Nigerian Army Day celebration—Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, commended the Governor for fostering a more secure and peaceful Kaduna State. He attributed the progress to Sani’s inclusive approach to governance.

“Since your assumption of office, Kaduna has become notably more peaceful. This is largely due to your inclusive leadership. Previously, areas like the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari-Tegina axis were virtually inaccessible, and the Kaduna-Abuja expressway posed serious security concerns. But those dark days are now behind us,” Oluyede stated.

The Army Chief expressed gratitude to Governor Sani for granting Kaduna the honour of hosting this year’s Army Day celebration, which commemorates the Nigerian Army’s 162nd anniversary.

He also acknowledged the Governor’s continued support for the military, particularly the 1st Mechanized Division headquartered in Kaduna.

“We deeply appreciate the unwavering support your administration has extended to the Nigerian Army. In return, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting your efforts in maintaining peace and security across the state,” he assured.

In his response, Governor Uba Sani praised the Nigerian Army for its enduring dedication to national unity, integration, and development.

“The Nigerian Army continues to make immense sacrifices to defend our country from criminal threats. The Nigerian people are truly grateful,” he said.

The Governor also lauded the military’s professionalism and respect for democratic institutions: “I commend the disciplined and constitutional manner in which the Army, and indeed the entire Armed Forces, have operated under civil democratic authority. This is essential for preserving our democracy and ensuring national stability.”

Governor Sani pledged to sustain logistical and moral support to boost the operational effectiveness of the Army, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the military to secure lives and property across Kaduna State.
