The announcement was made during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

the decision followed weeks of extensive consultations and sober reflection on Nigeria’s current political and economic trajectory.

a communiqué issued after the meeting described the mass defection as a “bold and strategic decision,” driven by a collective desire to rescue Nigeria from the ongoing hardship and governance failures under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal administration.

“The resolution to dissolve the Labour Party’s structure into the ADC in Ogbadibo LGA is the product of deep reflection and collective determination. We see the ADC as a more transparent, people-focused, and progressive alternative,” a stakeholder stated.

The meeting brought together former LP ward executives, youth leaders, women coordinators, and grassroots mobilizers from across Ogbadibo. It concluded with a unanimous pledge of loyalty to the African Democratic Congress.

Commenting on the political realignment, Agada Onu, Director of New Media and Strategic Communication to Hon. Domfrank Ochigbo, confirmed the development and underlined its wider implications.

“This courageous and calculated move is born out of the people’s resolve to rescue Nigeria from the grip of failed leadership and deepening hardship imposed by the APC-led government,” Onu said.

He added that the merger is designed to build a more robust political structure that prioritizes citizen welfare and promotes genuine democratic values at both local and national levels.
