According to the Commission, the intervention—carried out in partnership with a local non-governmental organisation—reflects its commitment to addressing the pressing needs of Niger Delta communities in line with its development mandate.

NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, speaking through the Deputy Director of Education, Health, and Social Services, Mrs. Chioma Nwakwe, during the distribution exercise, said the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises social support and community resilience.

A statement by the NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, noted that the intervention builds on recent outreach efforts by the Commission, including the launch of its 2025 Free Medical Mission across the Niger Delta.

“Recently, we flagged off our 2025 Free Medical Mission. The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was here to commission the remodelled Otuasega Cottage Hospital and school facilities. Chairs, desks, and U-Lesson tabs were also donated to Otuasega School. Today, with the continued support of the First Lady, we return with essential relief materials for the flood-affected residents,” Nwakwe said.
