The Youth Wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), backed by state youth leaders, secretaries, women leaders, and grassroots members nationwide, has vowed to resist any attempt to hijack the party by self-serving political actors. In a strongly worded statement issued Friday, the youth leaders warned that some politicians were joining the ADC not out of genuine conviction, but to exploit its credibility, structure, and growing popularity.
Speaking through the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Musa Matara, the Youth Wing declared unequivocally: “The ADC is not for sale.”
While the youth leaders expressed openness to genuine alliances or coalitions that align with the party’s ideals, they emphasized that any such merger must be formal, transparent, and rooted in national interest—not political opportunism.
“Any coalition must involve comprehensive consultation with all segments of the party—including state executives, zonal and local government leaders, the Youth Wing at all levels, women leaders, and grassroots coordinators,” the statement said. “To date, no such consultations have taken place to justify recent claims of mass leadership resignations or structural realignments.”
Reaffirming the party’s core values, the Youth Wing declared that the ADC would not allow political migrants to rebrand or hijack the party for personal ambition.
“Opportunists cannot hijack or repackage the ADC, which has a deep-rooted structure from the national level to every polling unit,” they stated. “We oppose political promiscuity and the use of money politics. In ADC, what matters most is integrity, credibility, and a sincere commitment to service.”
The youth leaders further called on Nigerian youths, women, people with disabilities, and all patriotic citizens to rally behind the ADC’s vision for national transformation. They described the ADC not just as a political party, but as a mission-driven movement for justice, good governance, and sustainable development.
“To newcomers and political defectors, we welcome only those who genuinely align with our vision,” the statement concluded. “The ADC is committed to being the most credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.”
The declaration was endorsed by the ADC Youth Wing for Greater Nigeria, alongside state youth leaders, secretaries, women leaders, local government officials, and grassroots supporters from across the country.
